Re-Certification

Introduction

This course is designed to re-certify the candidate in the use of the Signal Maintenance Testing Handbook

Aim

The aim of this course is for the candidate to prove their continued competence in the use of the Signal Maintenance Testing Handbook. The competencies that can be re-certified are:

Core Skills Testing
Cable & Wire Testing
Earth Testing
Aspect Testing
Point Testing
Block Testing
Produce a new Maintenance Test Plan
Prepare a Method Statement
Diversion of a Circuit
Release of Controls
TPWS
Signal Failure Investigation Level One

Objectives

On successful completion of the course the candidate will be able to:

Continue to carry  out Signal Maintenance Testing activities in accordance with SMTH in the competencies currently held and successfully re-certified as competent in.

Who Should Attend

Any persons currently in possession of a SMT competency certificate which is due to expire and who need re-certification in the competencies currently held.

Features

This course is run as a one to one assessment. The candidate is observed undertaking each of the defined tests (for the competencies held) as defined in the SMT handbook. The assessment is supported by further questioning as required and is followed up by  feedback detailing any requirements for re-training/mentorship if required.

Assessment

The successful candidate will leave with a certificate of competence detailing the elements re-certified in. This certificate is not valid unless it has been signed by the Assessor and countersigned by the candidates line manager.
