Basic Signalling 2

Introduction

This is the second course aimed at Railway Signalling Staff and is based on the original British Rail course of the same name. Candidates should previously have attended the Basic Signalling 1 course. The course has been split into six subjects and each subject has been arranged into unique training modules each with it’s own objectives.

Course Objectives

On successful completion of the course the candidate will have the necessary knowledge to:

  • Interpret signalling circuitry associated with signal and point control and indication;
  • Explain the use and purpose of individual signal and point machine components;
  • Explain equipment function operation and circuitry;
  • Outline basic fault finding and maintenance techniques associated with signals and electrical operated points.

  • Points – Clamp Locks and Machines
  • Signalling Relays
  • Controlled Signals and Signal Circuitry
  • Power Supplies
  • Signalling Cables and Wires
  • Basic Fault Finding

Additional Information

Personal Protective Equipment

This course is run both in the classroom and in a safe outdoor training environment. All delegates are required to bring:

  • Protective “all orange” high Visibility Clothing to Network Rail Standard
  • Safety Footwear (Boots) to Network Rail Standard
  • Safety Helmet (white/blue) to Network Rail Standard
Certification

his competency is valid for two years. A Network Rail Sentinel card will be awarded to each successful candidate.
