Clamp Lock Installation & Maintenance

Introduction

This Clamp Lock installation training course focuses on the installation and maintenance of Mark II Clamp Locks for plain leads and single slips with reference to double slips and switch diamonds.

Objectives

On successful completion of the course the candidates will be able to:

Install a Mk2 clamp lock to a plain lead in accordance with the Clamp Lock Handbook
Carry out maintenance on a clamp lock fitted plain lead in accordance with the Signal Maintenance Specifications Volume 2 PB11 and PB15
Carry out first line faulting on a clamp lock fitted plain lead in accordance with instructions in the Signal Maintenance Specifications and the Clamp Lock Handbook
Carry out a point care pre-inspection on clamp lock fitted points in accordance with instructions in the Clamp Lock Handbook
Carry out a point care service on clamp lock fitted points in accordance with instructions in the Clamp Lock Handbook

Principles of clamp lock operation, Installation and adjustment of Mk2 clamp locks to a plain lead
Maintenance to clamp lock fitted points to services A, B, C and D
Fault Location and rectification
Carry out disconnection procedures in accordance with Rule Book section E
Carry out point care procedures
Rectify any identified defects during a point care service

Learning Approach

Classroom sessions and practical work. Theory and practical assessments are included.

Features

A school environment with the ability to have faults applied. This environment also allows component changing under controlled conditions and where appropriate the equipment may be stripped and re-built. This is a Learning environment without distractions. Theory and practical assessments are used to test the course objectives and candidate knowledge.
