Lift Truck Operator

Introduction

In April 1989 the health and safety Commission introduced an approved Code of Practice for Rider Operated Lift Truck Operator Training, which, with its October 1999 update and other current legislation, places the responsibility of training competency and operation of such equipment onto the employer.

The employer now has the obligation to provide training for all operators to a high standard of competency, with new operators receiving basic training and assessment prior to using equipment.
