Point Machine Installation & Maintenance

Introduction

This Point Machine Installation and Maintenance course focuses on the HW type point machines but also includes information pertaining to GEC and WRSL 63 point machine.

Objectives

On successful completion of the course the candidate will be able to:

Install and adjust a Type HW Point Machine to a plain lead in accordance with instructions in the Signalling Maintenance Specifications.
Carry out maintenance on a point machine in accordance with the Signal Maintenance Specifications
Simple fault location and rectification

Installation of a Type HW Point Machine
Adjustment of a HW point machine in accordance with the relevant Signal Maintenance Specifications

Who Should Attend

Candidates who are responsible for the installation and maintenance of the Type HW point machines. Ideally candidates should have attended an Introduction to British Rail Signalling course and should be able to read circuit diagrams.

Learning Approach

Classroom theory sessions using visual aids, working models and practical demonstrations. At least half of the course will be made up of practical activities. Theory and practical assessments are used to test the course objectives and candidate knowledge.  

 Features

A school environment with the ability to have faults applied. This environment also allows component changing under controlled conditions and where appropriate the equipment may be stripped and re-built. This is a Learning environment without distractions. Candidates attending this course will develop their skills and knowledge so they can carry out HW installation requirements efficiently and effectively.
