Point Machine Maintenance

Objectives

This Point Machine Installation course focuses on the maintenance activities required for HW type point machines but also includes information pertaining to GEC and WRSL 63 point machine.

Objectives

On successful completion of the course the candidate will be able to:

Maintain and adjust (as required) a Type HW Point Machine to a plain lead in accordance with instructions in the Signalling Maintenance Specifications.

Maintenance of HW 1000 & 2000 point machines

Maintenance to SMS standards

Check & Adjust Additional drive equipment

Detection Loop Tests

Dynamic Earth Tests

Who Should Attend

Candidates who are responsible for the maintenance of the Type HW point machines. Ideally candidates should have attended an Introduction to British Rail Signalling course and should be able to read circuit diagrams.

Learning Approach

Classroom theory sessions using visual aids, working models and practical demonstrations.
