Introduction
Delegates attending this course will develop their skills and
knowledge to set up and adjust double and single Schwihag rollers from new installation
and conduct maintenance activities on Schwihag Roller Systems as
used on points throughout the UK Mainline.
Aims
The aim of the course is to help candidates better understand maintenance, setting up and adjustments of Schwihag Roller Systems to SMS standards

Who Should Attend
Persons who may be required to set up/adjust Schwihag roller systems following
new roller base plate (chair) installations or renewal and/or people who are
required to carry out maintenance activities on Schwihag rollers
Prerequisites
Candidates should:
| have an understanding of point layouts i.e. normal/reverse | |

able to use basic hand tools

| be able to interpret Signal Maintenance Specifications (SMS) |
Features
Provides knowledge of both
single and double rollers. The different set ups for all switch types where
Schwihags are used, i.e. shallow depth and full depth switches. How to identify
the switch type to ensure roller plates are fitted to the correct bearers and
the correct roller base plates have been used. This course further details the
correct tools to be used including gauges and how to correctly use them. The course allows time for the candidate to gain
experience of hands on setting up and testing in a safe environment. The SMS
procedures for the equipment is also demonstrated and practiced.
NOTE: This course does not cover the installation or renewal of base plates (chairs). The process of installing a roller chair is much the same as any other chair fitted to points systems. However, care must be exercised when selecting the correct chair and fixings to use.

Assessment
Written test paper plus practical assessments (both of which
must be passed to receive a certificate of achievement)
