Signal Control Systems and Automatic Train Supervision (ATP)

Introduction

The aim of this course is to introduce the candidates to the concepts of a modern Railway Signalling Control Centre.

Course Objectives

On successful completion of the course the candidate will be able to:

  • State the purpose of the Train describer;
  • Define a Train Headcode;
  • Describe the function of the Central Processor Unit;
  • Describe the function of a Local Processor Unit;
  • Explain the terms Junction Mode, Layover Time and Signal Adjust Time;
  • Explain the use of the Timetable in Automatic Route Setting;
  • Describe the function of the Automatic Route Setting system;
  • Describe the interconnection between the Control Centre equipment and the Signalling Equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment

This course is classroom based and therefore no P.P.E. is required.

Certification

A Certificate of Competence will be awarded to the delegate on successful completion of the written assessments.
