Introduction
This is the first course aimed at Railway Signalling Staff and is based on the original British Rail course of the same name. The course has been split into eight subjects and each subject has been arranged into unique training modules each with it’s own objectives.
Course Objectives
On successful completion of the course the candidate will have the necessary knowledge to:
- Identify the main components used in an electrical signalling system;
- Explain the use and purpose of each component;
- Explain equipment function operation and circuitry;
- Outline basic fault finding and maintenance techniques.

Additional Information
Personal Protective Equipment
This course is run both in the classroom and in a safe outdoor training environment. All delegates are required to bring:
- Protective “all orange” high Visibility Clothing to Network Rail Standard
- Safety Footwear (Boots) to Network Rail Standard
- Safety Helmet (white/blue) to Network Rail Standard
Certification
This competency is valid for two years. A Network Rail Sentinel card will be awarded to each successful candidate.
