Point Control and Detection Circuitry


This course looks at the wiring circuitry associated with point machines and clamp locks and can be split into three main areas:

  • Point Calling
  • Point Moving
  • Point Detection

Course Objectives

On successful completion of the course the candidate will be able to:

  • Describe
  • State the purpose of the controls used in the points NWR/RWR circuit
  • State why a relay with heavy duty contacts is used to drive the point machine
  • State the purpose of the WJR
  • State the purpose of the controls used in the points NWKR/RWKR circuit

Personal Protective Equipment

Full PPE is required for this course. All delegates are required to bring:

  • Protective “all orange” high Visibility Clothing to Network Rail Standard
  • Safety Footwear (Boots) to Network Rail Standard
  • Safety Helmet (white/blue) to Network Rail Standard
