Introduction
This course is intended to provide a delegate with the understanding required to carry out the duties of a PC when deemed suitable by their local line manager and to meet the relevant requirements of the Network Rail Company Standard.
Course Objectives
- Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of all the relevant safety procedures
- Be able to demonstrate the communication skills required by a protection controller
- Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the principles set out in module T II of the Rule book
- Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding in the use of the Sectional Appendix, Network Rail hazard directory, Method Statement, RIMINI principles and RIMPLAN
- Be able to demonstrate the completion of all the relevant documentation
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to implement the emergency procedure resulting from an emergency affecting the safety of line and trains
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to understand and use the phonetic alphabet

Personal Protective Equipment
This course is classroom based and therefore no P.P.E. is required.
Certification
This competency is valid for two years. A Network Rail Sentinel card will be awarded to each successful candidate.
Note
Post course objectives and P C Log Book will be given to each delegate on completion of the course.
