Reading and Understanding Circuit Diagrams


The aim of this course is to introduce the candidate to circuit diagrams and relays. With familiarity and sufficient knowledge of circuit symbols and their meaning, new unknown circuit diagrams can be tackled and the way they work understood.

Course Objectives

On successful completion of the course the candidate will be able to:

  • Identify a circuit symbol and obtain it’s meaning using a Circuit Symbol Nomenclature Table;
  • Compare and explain how different circuit symbols are used in different circuits;
  • Describe the main parts of a relay and how it works;
  • Describe how a basic circuit works by relating relay coils in one circuit with the contacts in another.

Personal Protective Equipment

This course is classroom based and therefore no P.P.E. is required.


A Certificate of Competence will be awarded to the delegate on successful completion of the written assessments.
